System Overview

Foam Roof System

A foam roof is made with sprayed polyurethane foam or SPF, creating a smooth seamless roof. Although there are insulation and moisture barrier advantages, these roofs can have issues depending on the building slope and whether the foam was applied correctly. Foam roofs will generally need to be recoated every 5-10 years, depending on the quality of coating installed over the foam. Common foam roof problems occur when the coating system breaks down in birdbaths or ponding water areas exposing the foam which quickly deteriorates with UV exposure. Specguard modified acrylic products are designed to withstand ponding areas, which increases the over longevity of the foam roof system creating layers of protection, ensuring years of continued use without the cost of replacement.

Single Ply Roof System

Single-Ply roofs are made with membranes of synthetic rubber or plastic, installed as a single layer, and are relatively inexpensive. However, the thinner surface makes these roofs easier to puncture, they have a relatively short lifespan and are susceptible to water leaks in the seams. Specguard single-ply system can correct these common defects and improve and extend the life of an existing single-ply roof. Specguard’s Single-Ply Roofing System builds up the existing worn single-ply roof and creates a weather barrier that adds years of useful service life.
